While on holiday on Maldives Islands, Will Ho who is a photographer from Taiwan stumbled on a vision that was especially mysterious; a lengthy beach stretch with billions of blue bright dots covering it.
This picture that appeared magical is not, in reality, but is a result of bioluminescent phytoplankton or Lingulodinium polyedrum. These minute organisms shine similar to fireflies each time they are under pressure or irritated by ground acidity and strain.
They present bioluminescence just in warm coastal waters. They have appeared on beaches of areas like Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam, US and Belgium, among others.
