Round Bridge Created to Make Drivers Reduce Speed in Order to Derive Pleasure from the Scenery

As 2015 drew to a close, a round bridge was finalized; it runs across Laguna Garzon, between Rocha and Maldonado cities on Uruguay’s southern coast.

Its design is by Rafael Vinoly and its finalization took 1 year. It substitutes a conventional raft crossing and at the same time motivates drivers to enjoy the scenery.

Vinoly states, ‘the idea of Puente Laguna Garzon was to change a conventional car crossing into an experience which lowers the pace of vehicles to offer a chance to get pleasure from wonderful sights, an awesome landscape and simultaneously form an area for pedestrians in the middle.’
